Jarred Belman-Program Director

Jarred Belman is the Program Director for WMUC Sports. A junior broadcast journalism major at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, Jarred specializes in play-by-play broadcasting. In his two years in College Park, Jarred has broadcasted 11 different Division I sports, including three National Championship games. He was on the call in Foxborough, MA for Maryland men’s lacrosse’s first championship since 1975.

Aside from his work with WMUC Sports, Jarred broadcasts games for Big Ten Network’s student produced “BTN Student U”, as well as the Maryland Baseball Network. Jarred has interned with D.C. United and ABC2News in Baltimore.

A Maryland fan born and raised, Jarred has been coming to games in College Park since he was a kid. From Juan Dixon to Grevis Vasquez and everyone in between, Jarred has been through the peaks and valleys of Maryland athletics. Between cheering for the Terps, as well as the Ravens and Orioles, Jarred has certainly grown accustomed to screaming at televisions and holding his breath until the final moments of games.

  1. Sounds like a real guy’s guy. A blue collar kind of worker with a lot of grit and determination. First one in the studio, probably the last one out. A real grind it out kind of guy. Probably a coaches son. Eats, sleeps and breathes broadcasting. A student of the game. Welcome aboard Jarred!

PS. Why does he spell his name with two r’s? It sounds more like “Jar-d” to me. Just some food for thought.
