Justin is a senior at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. He was born and raised in Bexley, Ohio, a suburb right outside of downtown Columbus, Ohio. He was brought up with sports all around him and it has been a constant throughout his life. His father coached college basketball and college soccer when he was younger and taught Justin everything he knows about the games. Justin’s devotion first and foremost is with anything Columbus. He has been a Blue Jackets fan since the team’s inception, attends Crew games whenever he can and grew up a diehard Ohio State fan.
Inspired by his mother, a writer who has been featured in such publications as Better Homes & Gardens and Columbus Monthly, he tried his hand at writing about sports early in high school. When a friend mentioned that combining his two loves, sports and writing, would make for a perfect occupation, he joined his high school’s newspaper staff, started writing about sports and fell in love. Ever since then, becoming a sports writer has been his goal.
The sports Justin specializes in are college basketball, soccer, college football and hockey, but he keeps up with all sports and is an avid fantasy football player.
