After a devastating loss on the road to No.4 Michigan, Maryland looks to bounce back against the Spartans of Michigan State.

The Terrapins will be looking for their second consecutive 4-1 start to a season. However, injuries to key starters on the offense leave questions for Coach Mike Locksley and his squad.

Starting quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and junior wideout Rakim Jarrett both sustained injuries in Ann Arbor. Tagovailoa injured his ribs after taking a hit in the pocket, and he’s also been dealing with a lingering knee injury. Jarrett, a potential NFL draft prospect, left the field after a scary fall, landing on his head, and did not return the rest of the game.

Locksley addressed the media Tuesday regarding the status of his offensive stars for their upcoming contest.

“Both those guys will be gameday decisions…I think they are both progressing nicely, but we’ll have to make that decision as we move closer to the end of the week and see how they prepare.”

In regards to their opponent this week, Tagovailoa dissected the challenges that lay ahead for the Terps.

“They have a really good front seven. Their (defensive coordinator) puts them in a lot of good positions, 1-on-1 matchups…they’re great players.”

Michigan State’s defense has performed well so far, currently tied for the most sacks in the Big Ten.

The leadup to this Saturday’s game leaves a lot of questions for the Terp football program from a personnel standpoint. However, there is incredible confidence among this year’s players and coaches that is infectious and clear to everyone who follows the team.

Maryland’s red-script uniforms will be making their season debut, a fan favorite, as well as a program favorite.
