Jarena Harmon’s two goals guides Terps past Tribe

Senior Jarena Harmon notched the first two goals of Maryland’s season, guiding the women’s soccer team to a 2-1 season-opening victory over the William & Mary Tribe.

The Washington, D.C. native got the scoring started in the fifth minute, but the Tribe answered back quickly when Courtney Miles evened the score just two minutes later. After the score was tied for over 80 minutes, Harmon hit a game-winner at 87:00, surpassing her goal total from a year ago.

Maryland will stay in Harrisonburg to play James Madison on Sunday. The Dukes lost their season opener 2-1 to Dayton after a pair of late goals.

The Terps and Dukes last played in 2015, when James Madison won 1-0 in an overtime match in College Park.
