In an offensive race to the end, the No. 6 Maryland Terrapins dropped their second game of the the B1G/ACC Tournament, falling to the No. 12 Boston College Eagles 2-1.

Starting the game off with an impressive bang, Boston College got on the board early, as Caroline McGovern sunk a low shot to post just over three minutes into the game. Soon after, the Eagles earned two penalty corners and totaled six shots while they dominated possession during the first half.

Though the half ended with the score stuck at 1-0, the end of the half showed promise for the Terps, who managed two quick shots by forward Olivia Reiter and midfielder Lein Holsboer.

The beginning of the second saw another early goal for Boston College. Fusine Govaert sank in one final goal at 27:01, a shot from the right side hitting the far goal post.

Even with Boston’s dynamic attacks, Maryland wasn’t yet ready to throw in the towel. It wasn’t long before determined forward Melissa Wilken secured two corners, the second of which led to the Terps’ first goal by defender Bodil Keus.

An impressive shot to the top right, the goal was Keus’s second of the season. The goal was Maryland’s first of the game and the beginning of an offensive spark for Maryland.

After the goal, the second half saw shots from midfielder Kyler Greenwalt, defender Bodil Keus, forward Linnea Gonzales, midfielder Lein Holsboer and forward Melissa Wilken.

Though Maryland had begun to regain possession in the second half, it was too late to catch up to Boston College. The Terps ended the half with eleven total shots and six total corners.

Maryland’s loss to Boston College drops its record to 1-2 so far this season. Maryland will continue its season at the Terrapin Invitational with a game against Towson on Sept. 8th at 1 p.m., before hosting No. 9 Louisville on Sunday.
