Maryland drops to .500 after loss to James Madison

After 40 minutes of scoreless soccer, James Madison’s Abby Maltese snuck a goal past Maryland goalkeeper Erin Seppi. That proved to be the deciding goal, as the Dukes added on a pair in the second half to defeat the Terps 3-0.

The loss drops the Maryland women’s soccer team to 1-1 on the young season.

Redshirt freshman Alyssa Poarch led the Terrapins with three shots, one of which was on goal, in her performance off the bench. Rachel Egyed relieved Seppi after halftime, and allowed two goals on six shots.

Maryland will return home to College Park for its home opener at Ludwig Field, when it hosts Appalachian State on Friday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
