On Saturday night the No. 5 Terps rallied to defeat former ACC rival No. 2 North Carolina 10-8 at the Pacific Coast Shootout at Santa Ana Stadium.

Maryland outshot the Tar Heels 42- 31 and won twice as many face-offs as well. After the first period the score was tied at two but a strong offense in the second half from Joe LoCascio and Colin Heacock provided the Terps with five goals combined for a lead into the early third period 7-2.

The Tar Heels would eventually come back but two more goals from LoCascio and Heacock would sealed the game in the final minutes and the Terps held on to win. This victory moved Maryland to (6-1) in the regular season and the Tar Heels dropped to (9-1) with Maryland handing them their first loss of the season.

The Terrapins next game comes on a Tuesday, March 24, against Robert Morris. Following the midweek match up, the Terps do not play their next game until Sunday, March 29 against the first Big Ten team of the season, Michigan.
