In 2019, Maryland’s Field Hockey team completed a successful season with a 17-4 record including going 7-1 in conference play and were the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, the Terps season ultimately ended with a 1-0 loss to No. 3 Virginia in the NCAA Field Hockey Quarterfinals.
Earlier this week, the Big Ten Conference released the abbreviated and conference only schedule for the Terps which begins at the end of the month with back-to-back weekends in Virginia Beach.
The first weekend the Terps play Michigan State on Feb. 26 and Northwestern on Feb. 28. The following weekend the Terps face Ohio State on March 5 and Northwestern on March 7.
Next, the Terps travel to Penn State and play two games on March 12 and 14. After a long wait, the Terps will then host their home-opener against Indiana on March 19 and 21 at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.
After a bye weekend on March 26-28, the Terps will then travel to Iowa for games on April 2 and 4. To close out the season, the Terps host Michigan on April 9 and 11 as well as Rutgers on April 15 and 17.
The Big Ten Tournament will be held from April 21-24 and hosted by Iowa, with the NCAA Tournament soon after. Selection Sunday is April 24, where 12 teams will be chosen to participate. The first two rounds out of the tournament will be played between April 30 and May 2. The conclusion of the season with the NCAA Semifinals and Championship will be held May 7-9 at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
