The Terps face Purdue this Thursday and Friday in Leesburg, Florida. On Thursday, the teams will have a doubleheader starting at 10:20 a.m. and end their series with a game on Friday at 11:20 a.m.
Maryland split each of its three series against No. 24 Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin, making the Terps 3-3. Purdue is looking for a comeback with a 2-4 record.
Freshman outfielder Jaeda McFarland has stood out so far this season for the Terps with .421 average and two doubles as well as one triple. Sophomore pitcher Trinity Schlotterbeck has been dynamite on the pitching mound, winning all three games she pitched with a total of 12 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched.
Junior infielder Rachel Becker has been on fire in the box for the Boilermakers with a .526 average with 10 hits and two RBIS so far this season. Sophomore utility player Cora Bassett is not far behind Becker with a .455 batting average including one home run, seven RBIs and 10 hits on the season.
The Terps were unable to play against Purdue last season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
