Maryland men’s lacrosse dropped its first game of the season as it fell to the No. 7 Yale Bulldogs 8-5 on Saturday.
While the Terps only managed five goals in the whole game, they were shutout in the third quarter and would have only scored three if it had not been for two late goals which cut the lead to three
The Terps leading scorer was Colin Heacock who had two of the minimal five goals for Maryland’s normal high-flying offense.
The lack of goals was certainly a concern for the Terps, however they outshot the Bulldogs 34-24, so there was not any lack of offense persay, but the Terps shot selection has to be in question because Yale goalie Phil Huffard only has six saves.
The other key factor of the game was the amount of turnovers the Terps committed, 18 throughout the whole game. This must be cleaned up as well as the Terps shot selection if they hope to make another run at the NCAA Finals this season.
The Terps next game comes against a very talented Notre Dame team in the Pacific Coast Shootout in Costa Messa, California this upcoming Saturday.
