On Thursday, the Maryland women’s basketball team showed why they are the number six team in the country.
“We were ready to play,” head coach Brenda Frese remarked as her team crushed the Old Dominion Royals 95-49 in the opening round of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Terps went on a 9-0 scoring run to start the game and finished the first quarter scoring 21 more points and only giving up six.
The key players for the Terps in this game were Brene Mosley and Brionna Jones. Jones had a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Mosley finished with 26 points, more than half of what Old Dominion scored all game.
Despite these two players top performances, all 12 of the Terp’s roster saw playing time as Maryland held the Royals to less than 10 points in two quarters of the game and outscored them by 24 points to end the first half.
The Terps next game comes against the No.23 Syracuse Orange at Xfinity Center for the Big Ten/ ACC Challenge.
