COLLEGE PARK, MD — Applications to join WMUC Sports, the student-run radio station at the University of Maryland, are now open. WMUC Sports provides live play-by-play radio broadcasts for 10 Maryland sports teams, as well as written content and podcasts.
For every application:
Please send ALL materials to [email protected]. In the subject line, please write which department you are applying to join. For broadcast crews, the subject should read Broadcast Crew Fall 2018-2019 Application. For news crews positions, the subject should read News Crew Fall 2018-19 Application. For talk shows, the subject should read Talk Show Fall 2018-19 Application. For graphics crew positions, the subject should read Graphics Crew Fall 2018-19 Application.Please make sure your subject line is correct, as it makes it easier for us to get through applications. You are also more than welcome to apply for more than one position within WMUC Sports. If you wish to apply for multiple positions, please include all required materials in ONE email.
To apply to the broadcast crew:
Please send your resume, a cover letter indicating your experience with WMUC Sports and preferences for fall sports (Football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, and field hockey), and a link/clip of you broadcasting to [email protected]. If you’ve broadcasted for us or any another outlet, please provide a link or attach a file of that broadcast. If you have not, you can just mute the TV and record yourself calling a game. We are working to improve our broadcasts and want to put the best products out there. Having a sample of your broadcasting skills is critical for determining crews.
To apply to the news crew position:
Please send your resume, a cover letter indicating your experience with WMUC Sports and preferences for fall sports (Football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, and field hockey), and two clips to [email protected]. Working collaboratively with your sport’s crew, our news crew will be responsible for writing game recaps 30-45 minutes after the conclusion of a game, attending midweek media availabilities, and writing feature stories. Other opportunities that news crew members are encouraged to take part in include recording podcasts and supplementing WMUC Sports’ radio broadcasts with analysis during halftimes or intermissions.

Please send your resume, a cover letter indicating your experience with WMUC Sports and your experience in graphic design to [email protected]. Graphic designers will be responsible for creating pre- and post-game graphics for Maryland sporting events to be published on social media.
To apply for a talk show:
If you are interested in a talk show, please send your resume and a cover letter with a brief description of your show’s premise, who the hosts will be, and three 1-hour time slots of when you would like your show to air to [email protected].
