The top-ranked Maryland Terrapins Women’s Lacrosse took down No. 15 Northwestern on Thursday evening by a score of 18-9 to not only clinch the Big Ten regular season title, but also their third consecutive undefeated regular season.
Maryland was incredibly consistent offensively this season. They scored at least eleven goals in every game this season, and this game was their ninth consecutive scoring at least 16.
Few games this season were even competitive for the Terps. Fourteen of the seventeen games were Maryland victories by at least five goals.
It truly was an incredible season for Maryland for so many players, but Caroline Steele was the star tonight. Steele totaled six goals and an assist.
Taylor Hensh also had quite the game to finish off her season. The junior attacker finished with four goals and two assists.
Freshman sensation Kali Hartshorn was finally held scoreless after an incredible goal streak. She only shot once Thursday, and it looks like she may shockingly not win a weekly award for her efforts.
After a few weeks of underwhelming play, Megan Taylor returned to her usual impressive form. She saved nine shots and let nine in, good for a .500 save percentage.
Zoe Stukenberg and Caroline Wannen recorded four and five points respectively in their final regular season game. Junior Megan Whittle closed her great season with four points.
The Terps look as dominant as ever heading into postseason play. The Big Ten tournament will begin Friday, May 5 in College Park.
