In their first game of 2015, Maryland women’s basketball team traveled to Nebraska Saturday night and dominated the No.16 Cornhuskers 75-47. The No.10 Terrapins move on to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten.
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led the team with 24 points and nine rebounds. The Terps trailed during the first half and Walker-Kimbrough’s late two-pointer seemed to be the momentum shift the Terps needed.The team was able to tie the game 27-27 at the half.
Laurin Mincy dominated the second half, beginning with a 7-0 run all by herself. Mincy finished the game with 22 points, 20 coming from the second half alone. Malina Howard led the team with nine rebounds and Tierney Pfirman contributed eight rebounds. Due to snow in the area, the team was not able to fly home Saturday night. The team will return home Sunday and begin preparation for more Big Ten conference play. Maryland plays Purdue at home Thursday night.
