Maryland field hockey has been dominant this season, entering Friday with a 15-1 record.

It didn’t slow down against No. 8 Iowa.

After Friday’s domination, the Terps upped their regular-season total to 57 goals scored.

No. 2 Maryland capped off its season in a powerful 5-1 win over Iowa before heading into the Big Ten Tournament.

Forward Maci Bradford and Midfielder Francisca Eschoyez were unstoppable for the Terps, scoring four of the five goals.

Maryland’s success on corners continued against Iowa, with three of their four goals coming from penalty corners.

Maryland finished the regular season with 111 corners.

“I think we were just connecting with each other. It was just a total team effort; we were moving the ball, and so gritty inside the circle,” Maci Bradford said.

The Terps were able to convert on three of their eight corners on the afternoon.

After a delayed start to the game due to the referees arriving late, Maryland jumped to a quick start against the Hawkeyes, scoring three goals in the first quarter.

“I think both teams could have been very distracted by the fact that it started half an hour late… but I thought our team handled it. Obviously, a little different than Iowa did, so couldn’t be more proud,” head coach Missy Meharg said.

Bradford put the Terps on the board first, scoring her first goal of the game on a shot from the middle of the circle.

Eschoyez continued the offensive pressure for the Terps, capitalizing on their second and fourth corners of the first.

On the season, Eschoyez led the team with 11 goals, while Bradford finished with 15 assists..

The momentum slowed down for Maryland, ending the second quarter with no shots compared to an Iowa team with four after being held to none in the first.

The slow play continued for the Terps to start the third, giving up a goal less than two minutes in.

“You don’t come out of a locker room and sit back, and we did… if you give a team time and space, they’re going to control the game,” Meharg said.

Goalie Alyssa Klebasko had not seen much in front of her before Iowa’s goal, saving three of four on the day.

Klebasko finished out the season seeing just under 900 minutes of play.

The quick start to the game proved to be enough for the Terps as they secured their seventh win against Big Ten Conference teams.

The 2026 season is the first time Maryland has lost only one game since the 2010 season when it was still in the ACC.

With the win over Iowa, Maryland finishes an impressive Big Ten regular-season and locks in at the number two seed in the Tournament.

The Terps look to celebrate the championship as they await their opponent for the start of tournament play on Wednesday.
