The Terrapins advanced to 2-3 in Big Ten Gymnastics play, as Maryland came out victorious in a quad meet against Ursinus, Cornell, and conference rival Rutgers. The Terps scored a season high 195.375, continuing their rising season as they gradually improve after every meet.
It was a day of individual victories for the seniors as well. Katy Dodds would take 1st place in vault with a season high 9.875. Karen Tang and Stephanie Giameo would score a 9.850 and take event crowns in both bars and beam, respectively.
Behind Tang’s performance on the bars, Sarah Faller, Katy Dodds and Kathy Tang and contributed a consistent 9.725. The team finished with a score of 48.850.
On the beam, Maryland finished at a 48.575 for the event behind Stephanie Giameo’s event crown and Shannon Skochko (9.700). The team would finish with a consistently near perfect 49.900 on the floor, the highest since their last team win against Minnesota.
For the second time this season, the team did not fall from an apparatus, greatly aiding their big victory at Rutgers.
The Terps will return home this Friday, February 20th, to face George Washington, Townson, and William & Marry in their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Meet. All proceeds from apparel and merchandise will go towards breast cancer research.
