The Maryland Terrapins gymnastics team continued to show improvement Friday night when they scored a season high team total of 195.275 in a loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City, IA.
Iowa’s team score of 195.725 was just enough to take first place over Maryland. Maryland’s team score has gotten better and better in every meet this season and their gymnasts are vastly improving in the individual events as well.
On the vault, senior Katy Dodds, senior Shannon Skochko, and freshman Abbie Epperson all tied for first place with a score of 9.850. Dodds and Epperson tied for second in vault last weekend at Penn State and have been consistent on vault all season long. Epperson took first place again Friday night on the uneven bars and earned a career best score of 9.900 for her bar routine.
Additionally, senior Stephanie Giameo came in second place on beam with a 9.825 and senior Ebony Walter also earned second on floor with a 9.850.
Maryland returns home next weekend where they will face off against No. 4 Michigan on Saturday, February 7th at 7:00 pm.
